A two-day weekend workshop in Wilton, CT
Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22, 2009
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day
Understanding and controlling studio lighting and applying it to portraits is one of the greatest challenges that a photographer faces. This weekend workshop is designed to give the emerging photographer a strong foundation in all the elements of lighting, from esthetics to hardware. Lighting has many aspects that need to be addressed individually and then combined to create a meaningful portrait. The use of strobe lights, how they work, and the step-by-step lighting set-up is the first layer in the foundation. Topics covered are direction of light, quality of light with soft boxes, umbrellas and grid spots, lighting ratios, metering techniques and posing for individuals and couples. Participants will have hands-on experience shooting models in the studio, working with the strobe power packs, stands, C-stands, booms, flags, diffusers and reflectors. This workshops provides essential information in both techniques and concepts to help the photographer create strong and effective portraits.
No lighting experience is needed for this class.
