A comprehensive one-day workshop dealing with advanced techniques
Prerequisite: The Flash Class I or equivalent experience
February 15, 2009 (Sunday) 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In this one-day workshop, participants will learn how to use advanced controls on their portable flash units to modify the quality of light. Demonstrations cover bouncing light off reflectors including California Sunbounce, using umbrellas, diffusion panels and multiple flashes. Learn how to determine when to use the flash off-camera to create various lighting patterns, and how to choose the right power for each scene. Dragging the shutter, or balancing strobe and ambient light is covered in great detail with a variety of methods explained. You will also learn special effects like “strobe/blur,” “day for night” and gelling lights and filtering the camera in mixed light situations. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot after each demo so that they can apply the techniques immediately.
A digital camera with a portable flash is required. Please bring your camera and flash manual, and any accessories that you have.
